Let us take you through the charming Old Town of Omiš, characterized by its narrow cobblestone streets, medieval architecture, and picturesque squares. Omiš is also known for its formidable pirates, known as the "Omiški gusari, ( pirates)" who struck fear into the hearts of sailors throughout the Adriatic during medieval times.
As we stroll through the town, our guide introduces you to the Church of St. Michael. Dating back to the 10th century, this Romanesque church is a significant cultural and architectural landmark in Omiš. Admire its ancient stone carvings, intricate frescoes, and historic artifacts, providing insight into the town's religious heritage. Located near the Church of St. Michael, the Franciscan Monastery is another historical site we take you to visit. Explore its cloisters, chapels, and museum, which houses a collection of religious art and artifacts dating back from centuries ago.
Our next stop after the center of the city is the Mirabella - strategically perched fortress settled on a hill overlooking the town, offering panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea and the surrounding countryside which rulers of Omiš constructed as a bastion of strength and protection from the pirates.
After wandering through the city, it is time for some free time to take a refreshing swim on the beautiful beach (Punta) or to perhaps climb the Fortica fortress.
The last stop of the day will be a visit to the Family Agricultural Business in the nearby small village Tugare to a workshop and tasting of traditional Poljički soparnik. Halfway through, we will make a quick stop in “Gata” to see the statue and hear the story of Mila Gojsalić - legendary figure from Croatian history known as the girl who chose to leap from a cliff into the Cetina River rather than surrender to the Ottomans.
